1. Who we are

SmartCardia Inc. (“SmartCardia,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides outpatient mobile cardiac monitoring services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use our monitoring service (the “Service”), including our text message (SMS) alerts.

2. Information we collect

  • Contact information provided by you or your healthcare provider at enrollment, including your name and mobile phone number.
  • Health and device information generated by your prescribed monitoring device as part of the Service. This clinical information is protected health information (PHI) and is also governed by our HIPAA obligations and Notice of Privacy Practices.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to provide and support the Service — including to send you operational alerts about your device (for example, a notification that your patch has stopped transmitting) — and to respond to your questions and requests.

4. SMS / mobile messaging program

As part of the Service, SmartCardia sends patients transactional text messages about their prescribed monitoring device, such as welcome instructions when monitoring begins and alerts that the device is offline. These are operational healthcare messages, not marketing messages.

  • Consent: By providing your mobile phone number — directly to us or through your healthcare provider at enrollment — expressly accepting the SmartCardia Terms of Use in the app, and using the Service, you consent to receive text messages about your monitoring device at that number. You can opt out at any time, and opting out will not affect your monitoring Service.
  • Message frequency: Message frequency varies depending on the status of your device.
  • Rates: Message and data rates may apply.
  • Opt-out: You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. You will receive a one-time confirmation and no further messages.

  • No sharing of mobile data: We do not share or sell your mobile phone number or SMS consent information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. This information may be shared only with service providers that help us operate the messaging program (for example, our messaging platform provider), under contractual confidentiality obligations.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only (a) with service providers and business associates who perform services on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality or HIPAA agreements, and (b) where required by law or to protect health and safety. Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent data are excluded from any sharing for third-party marketing.

6. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and to meet our legal, regulatory, and medical record-keeping obligations, after which it is deleted or de-identified.

7. Your choices and rights

You may opt out of SMS alerts at any time by replying STOP. To access, correct, or request deletion of your information, or to ask questions about this policy, contact us using the details below. Certain rights may depend on applicable law.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. Because SMS is not a secure channel, our text alerts are limited to operational device information and do not include clinical findings or diagnostic detail.
